Dr. Sumesh Thomas, MB.BS, DCH, FRCP(Edin), FRCPCH (UK), FRCPC.

TRAINING

Dr. Thomas graduated in 1990 and was certified as a specialist in 2003 (UK) in both Pediatrics and Neonatology. He completed neonatal fellowship training at the University of Toronto in 2000 and was appointed Honorary Senior Lecturer and Consultant Neonatologist with the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) in 2003. In 2009 he immigrated to Canada and was medical director of neonatal services at McMaster Children's Hospital and Associate professor with the department of pediatrics, McMaster University (Hamilton) until 2013. He is a fellow of the Royal Colleges of Paediatrics & Child Health (UK), Physicians of Edinburgh (UK), and College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

WORK

Dr. Sumesh Thomas is a Staff Neonatologist with Alberta Health Services, Calgary Zone, and a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Cumming School of Medicine, the University of Calgary since 2013. He is also the Medical Director for the Southern Alberta Neonatal Transport Service (SANTS).

RESEARCH & QI

Dr. Thomas's main research interests are neonatal transport, neonatal resuscitation on placental circulation, and point of care application of ultrasonography in neonatal intensive care.
